You rarely see this same emphasis placed on the Internet and as studies have shown it can be much more dangerous to leave a child alone on the Internet than in your back yard. Why? Your computer is located in your home, how can it be more dangerous? Because of the wide-open community of the Internet, you never know what material is going to pop in front of your child. Even the best blocking software falls short in this area.

You can change this by volunteering your time to act as a monitor in one of our chat rooms. You will be able to control the content your child and other children are subject to while learning what goes on in chat rooms. It will give you a better understanding of what your child and other children are doing. You will be able to communicate to other parents of your new experience and guide them with their children. Plus you will have the gratification knowing you put something back into your Internet community.
