Frequently ask Questions
Q: How long has Chat Family been around? A: Chat Family opened its doors to the public on Oct 30, 1997 founded by Robert Keown, Damian Mobley, Daniel Rogers, Lori Tyler, and Dom Datti. Dom still stops in from time to time under the nickname of Kain. Thanks goes to each of them, Chat Family would not be here without them. In October, 2006, Chat Family changed ownership. Bigger and brigher things are ahead for this site.
Q: Why was I kicked out of the room? A: Chat Family is a clean chat site. We do not tolerate disruptive users and people who cuss or flood. We simply will not provide you those means.
Q: I was banned from Chat Family, I didn't know the word I said was not allowed or I did not mean to say what I said? A: A bad time to read the rules is after you have broken them, Yes you did mean to say what you said, or you would not have said it. You are now banned live with it.
Q: I was just banned from Chat Family for doing something wrong, how long am I banned for? When can I come back? A: You are banned until the ban expires, it could be days, weeks, months, never. Understand that you have already identified yourself as the type of person we do NOT want in our chat rooms, why should we be in a hurry to take a ban off for you breaking our rules?
Q: How do I become a chat or forum moderator? A: You must have a good knowledge of how Chat works, and be experienced at identifying disruptive users.
Q: When will I know if I am accepted to be a chat or forum moderator? A: You will be contacted AFTER the people working at Chat Family have evaluated your interaction with the people that chat here and your ability to handle yourself in situations as they arise. Basically stated: Just because you filled out an application does not mean you will be selected. The admin will get back to you.
Q: Will I be paid to be a chat or forum moderator? A: No, at the present time the staff working at Chat Family are not paid, this includes the owner. We all provide our time voluntarly making the internet community a better place for all.
Q: How do I register my Nickname? A: At this moment, you cannot register your nickname. You can register your own username at our forums.
Q: Why does Chat Family not allow some words that are allowed by other places? A: Easy answer: We are not those other places nor do we attempt to be. Longer Answer: We have placed the most common used swearwords on our restricted list, we stick to this standard and do not in any way sway from it. At any given time Chat Family could have a visitor that is offended by the use of profanity, profanity is not required to communicate there for we do not think there is a place on chat for it.
